Stanhope Watermelon Day Weekend

For almost seven decades, the Stanhope Lions have been putting on one of the great summer traditions in the region, known by many as “the best day of the year!” 

On Saturday, July 19th, we invite you to join us!

Never been? Here's the short version.

Watermelon Day is one part small town festival, one part family reunion, “Stanhope’s National Holiday,” and the Lions’ largest fundraiser drawing thousands from across Iowa. It starts with the parade at 10:30 AM sharp, then all action is in the park with food, games, rides, family entertainment and of course, free watermelon all afternoon! 

WATERMELON DAY WEEKEND DETAILS:

FRIDAY, JULY 18TH -- Watermelon Day Eve

    • 6:00 PM -- Stanhope School Alumni Banquet
      • Hove Family Community Center
    • 8:00 PM -- Envision Stanhope Block Party
      • Iowa Street in front of the Depot

SATURDAY, JULY 19th -- Stanhope Watermelon Day

 

  • 11:00 AM -- Park is open!!

 

  • 2:15 PM -- Watermelon Eating Championship
